

Mrs. Morton was born to Karl and Allegra (Hamilton) Rodgers in Greenwich Village, New York on September 1st, 1936. Mrs. Morton was educated at the Buxton School in New York City. After high school Mrs. Morton attended the University of Vermont, where she met her husband, Robert Douglas Morton. Mr. and Mrs. Morton were married June 7, 1958, in Cranford, NJ. Mrs. Morton received a degree in Computer Programing in 1967, from the County College of Morris.
Mrs. Morton originally worked for Bell Labs following completing her computer programing degree. Later working for the US Postal Service for 23 years, she was involved in many aspects of operations for locations in Massachusetts including New Salem, Lake Pleasant, and Hatfield. She would later work in the Keene Post Office, retiring as a clerk at the Marlborough, NH Post Office in 1998.
A dedicated mother and grandmother, Mrs. Morton, enjoyed spending time with her family. She enjoyed listening to folk and country music, as well as singing. Mrs. Morton enjoyed Contra dancing, as well as performing with Anamaterra in Keene. She also loved kayaking, continuing to enjoy going out with her friends until age 87! Steadfast in her faith, Mrs. Morton was a member of the Sturtevant Chapel in Keene. During her life she was a member of the Stoddard Congregational Church, and North Congregational Church in New Salem, MA; where her presence will be missed by many close friends.
Mrs. Morton will be deeply missed by her children, her daughter Allegra Miller and her husband Dan of Marlow, NH, her son John Morton and his wife Sally of Richmond, NH; her grandchildren, Clarice Miller of Schenectady, NY; Ariana Miller of Keene, NH; Blake Miller of Manhattan, KS; Robert Colin Morton of Greenfield, MA; Lizzie Morton of Richmond, NH; Kristopher Evans of Marlow, NH; Kenneth Evans of Athol, MA; Hannah Morton of Athol, MA. She will also be missed by four great grandchildren, Nova Evans, Delyah Evans, Korbin Morton-Evans, Zane Morton-Evans, and all of Marlow, NH. Mrs. Morton was predeceased by her husband Robert Douglas Morton and her son, Robert Dundas Morton. She was also predeceased by her parents Karl and Allegra Rodgers; one brother Karl Freeman Rodgers Jr., and a nephew Timothy Rodgers.
In keeping Mrs. Morton’s final wishes, the family will hold a private celebration of her life at a later date.
