She was born in St. Wenceslas, Quebec, Canada, October 16, 1919, the daughter of Ernest and Lucinda (Pellerin) Arseneault. She grew up in Keene attending local schools including St. Joseph Regional School and Keene High School.
Mrs. Brown was a longtime member of Ste. Anne Sodality, the Altar Society and an associate member of the Sisters of the Presentation of Mary. She was also a longtime parishioner of St. Bernard Church in Keene.
She took great pride in her role as a homemaker. She was known for her bread making and her whoopie pies, two favorites of her family. She was an accomplished seamstress, altering wedding dresses and clothes for many. She also enjoyed knitting, exercising, and most of all, always needed to keep busy. She loved to laugh and anytime you saw her, she was always happy.
Mrs. Brown worked for many years with the Red Cross blood drives in the area and was a school crossing guard for Lincoln School on South Lincoln Street in Keene, for eleven years.
She loved to travel and had the opportunity to meet Pope John Paul II in Vatican City, as well as visiting Singapore, Hong Kong, China, Thailand and Hawaii.
Mrs. Brown is survived by two daughters, Carmen J. Scheck and her husband, Edward, of Keene, Mary Ellen Masiello and her husband, Ronald, of East Haven, CT; four sons, Lawrence R. Brown, Jr. of Swanzey, NH, Donald G. Brown and his wife, Patty, of Flower Mound, TX, Robert G. Brown and his wife, Carol, of Keene, Thomas J. Brown of Lewisville, TX; twelve grandchildren, Loren Brown, Caitlen Brown, Timothy Brown, Matthew Brown, Heather Hopkins, Kyla Scheck, Jeremy Scheck, Matthew Scheck, Hannah Scheck, Becky Davé, Susan Deasy, Kirstyn Masiello; seven great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband of 42 years, Lawrence R. Brown, Sr. who died May 26, 1986; a son, Roger A. Brown in 1991; three brothers, Roger Arseneault, George Arseneault, Gaston Arseneault; and two sisters, Mary Jane Martin and Simone Arsenault.
A mass of Christian burial will be celebrated Thursday, January 24, 2013 at 11:30 AM in St. Bernard Church, 185 Main Street, Keene. Burial will follow in St. Joseph Cemetery, Main Street, Keene. Family and friends are invited to call on Thursday from 9:30 to 11:00AM at the Foley Funeral Home, 49 Court Street, Keene.
