Her parents, Raymond H. and Doris (Holm) Taber welcomed their daughter into the world on July 16, 1942 in Keene, NH. She grew up on the east side of town, moving to the west side when she married her husband, Paul.
Doris worked for 18 years as a finisher with the former Schleicher and Schuell of Keene.
Many things brought Doris great joy in her life, watching NASCAR; sharing memories on Facebook; playing bingo; going out to enjoy a Chinese dinner; and traveling to the beaches in Maine. She also enjoyed watching her son, Paul, race his stock car at the Monadnock Speedway in Winchester. Her greatest joy was the time she spent with her family, especially her grandchildren, great-grandchildren and the twinkle of her eye, great-granddaughter, Ava Molly Laffond.
She was a member of the Christian Life Fellowship Church in Swanzey, and her church family also brought her great joy.
She will be greatly missed by many, especially her family, her husband of 57 years, Paul E. Laffond of Swanzey; her children, Paul J. Laffond and his wife, Karen, of West Swanzey, Bonnie A. Laffond-Chase of Alstead, NH; her grandchildren, Shane A Laffond, Denise Frazier, Kelly Pickard; her great-grandchildren, Ava Molly Laffond, Faith Frazier, Meghan Frazier, Dominik M. Laffond, Jake Hillard, Nicholas Frazier; her sisters, Roselma “Rose” Tucker and her husband, Phil, of North Haverhill, NH, Joanne Sempeigen of Molalla, OR, Vi Michalik of Florida, Josephine “Josie” Rider of Manchaug, MA; her nieces, Laura Benkowski of Hinsdale, NH, Sharon Laffond of Keene, NH, Annette Herlihy of Florida, Debbie Leblanc of Florida; her nephews, Michael Laffond of Marlborough, NH, Mark Laffond of Avon, IN; her sisters-in-law, Anna Laffond of Keene, Sue Laffond of Hinsdale; and her favorite 4-legged friends, her cat, Mittens and her dog, Sweet Pea. She was predeceased by a grandson, Michael B. Laffond; a great-grandson, Arron Frazier; and her brothers-in-law, Fred Laffond and Robert Laffond.
A funeral service will be held on Wednesday, March 20, 2019 at 11:30am in the Christian Life Fellowship Church, 211 Whitcomb Road, East Swanzey. Burial will be in the spring in the Oak Hill Cemetery, West Swanzey. Family and friends are invited to call on Tuesday evening from 5:00 to 7:00pm at the Foley Funeral Home, 49 Court Street, Keene.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in Mrs. Laffond’s memory to the Christian Life Fellowship Church, PO Box 10357, Swanzey, NH 03446.
