

She was born in Waynesboro, VA, on September 29, 1928, the daughter of Luther and Mary P. (Stacey) Reid. Her family moved to Everett, MA when she was a child. She travelled back to Virginia with her siblings to spend the summer months with her grandparents and her beloved Aunt Mimmie. She went on to graduate from Everett High School in 1946. She has lived in the Keene area for over 60 years.
After High School she worked as an operator for Bell Telephone in Boston for four years. She also worked for Cheshire Medical Center for 23 years and retired as their Communications Director in 1996. She was a respected coworker, well liked and the recipient of the President’s Award in 1989.
She was a long time member of the United Church of Christ and a member of their Ladies Fellowship and church choir. She was a former Rainbow Girl and former Girl Scout and Cub Scout leader. Mrs. Bond was also a member of the Wheelock P.T.A., and was active in the Monadnock Valley Extension Services.
She enjoyed many games including Canasta, Kings-Corners, Poker, Yahtzee, Numbers Up, Dominos and Connect Four. She also enjoyed her travels to Virginia, Florida, Nova Scotia and especially the coast of Maine. Here time spent with family and friends in York and Ogunquit, Maine were some of the happiest times of her life.
Her family remembers her as warm, kindhearted and funny. She was always willing to give of herself and was especially fond of hosting gatherings of family and friends at her home. She was a big proponent of Reid family reunions, hosting the families of her three sisters and brother for summertime fun; a tradition begun in the 1960’s which continues today.
She is survived by her children Douglas R. Bond and his wife Denise of Waterboro, ME, David R. Bond and his wife Jill of Keene, Carey E. Bond and his wife Alexandra of Keene, Robin B. Topper and her husband John of Londonderry, Matthew H. Bond and his wife Jennifer of Keene and Mark W. Bond and his wife Debra of Charlestown; her grandchildren Jennifer Olivo, Angela Paradis, Heather McCormick, Joce Bond, Jackie Topper, Chelsea Bond, Marisa Bond, Holly Bond, Abigail Bond, Lily Bond, Robert and Brett LeClaire, Ryan and Chelsea Leskiewicz, Jennifer Fogg and Deena Rae; her great-grandchildren Isabelle and Grady McCormick, Cameron and Erin Olivo, Jack Everett Graffin, Andy and R.J. Leclaire, John, Jeffrey, Joshua, Aleya and Lyla Fogg and Devin Avery Rae; her sister Philomena “Kitchie” Marquis of Woburn, MA, and many beloved nieces and nephews. She is predeceased by her sisters Gertrude Tolman of Keene, Phyllis Fitzgerald of Acton, MA, her brother L. Ernest Reid of Keene and her long-time companion Ralph “Gus” Conant.
Services for Mrs. Bond will be held on Saturday, February 7th, 2015, 11:00 AM at the United Church of Christ, 23 Central Square, in Keene. Calling hours will be held the night before, Friday, February 6th, 2015, from 5:00 PM – 7:00 PM, at Fletcher Funeral Home & Cremation Services, 33 Marlboro St., Keene, NH.
