Edward C. Goodrich Sr

Edward C. Goodrich, Sr., 82, of Marlborough, died Wednesday morning, May 8, 2013, at Cheshire Medical Center, following a period of declining health.

Ed Sr. was born October 9, 1930, the youngest son of Clyde A and Laura (Hill) Goodrich. He attended Keene Schools and graduated from Keene High School in 1948. He joined the National Guard in December of 1947 and enlisted into the US ARMY in November of 1948. He was honorably discharged July 18, 1952 having served two years in Germany during the Korean War, earning many decorations.

He enjoyed going to flea markets and yard sales. He also liked to collect and repair old radios. Ed Sr. was an accomplished carpenter, plumber and electrician. He worked for many years at the old Coca Cola Bottling Co. of Keene. He later worked as a custodian at Wheelock School in Keene, where he was affectionately known as “Mr. Ed”.

Mr. Goodrich is survived by a daughter: Tracy Lee and husband, Robert, Sr. of Marlborough; two sons: Edward Goodrich, Jr. and wife, Gilda of Marlborough and Joseph Goodrich and wife, Diane of Winchester; 8 grandchildren; and “Nova” the cat.

Ed Sr. was preceded in death by his wife of 54 years, Rhoda Goodrich in 2007.

A graveside service will be held on Wednesday, May 15, 2013, at 1:00PM at Pine Grove Cemetery in Marlborough. There are no Public Calling Hours.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Mr. Goodrich’s name to the Marl-Harris Ambulance Service, PO Box 399, Marlborough, NH 03455.

Mr Ed worked at Wheelock when I was a kid. He was always good to the kids and had a great personality! Glad he had a long life, my thoughts are with his family.
