
He was born in Halifax, Nova Scotia, Canada, on April 21, 1922, the son of Victor and Minnie (Young) Budd.
Edwin grew up in Newton, MA, and was a graduate of Newton High School.
Mr. Budd was an Army Technical Sergeant serving in the Cannon Company 329th Infantry Regiment during World War II, fighting overseas in the Battle of Normandy as well as other campaigns, and was the recipient of the Bronze Star.
He resided in Troy for twenty years before moving to Keene in 1975. Edwin moved to Aiken to be with his son, James, and has resided there for the past 12 years.
Edwin worked for the former Central Screw Company in Keene, for 27 years, as a superintendent. He later worked for four years with the NH State Liquor Store as a retail clerk.
He was a former longtime member of the Gordon Bissell American Legion Keene Post #4. He was also a longtime parishioner of St. Bernard Church in Keene, where he served as an usher at the weekend masses. He also took great enjoyment in helping with the weekly bingo games at the church.
He will be greatly missed by his four sons, Edwin J. Budd, Jr. and his wife, Nancy, of Keene, James Budd of Aiken, Robert Budd and his wife, Kelly, of Marlborough, NH, Richard Budd and his wife, Debra, of Franklin, NH; his grandchildren, Billy Budd and his wife, Xandra, Carla Vanderhoof and her husband, Sumner, Elizabeth Archer and her husband, Nate, Jennifer Budd, Heidi Boroski and her husband, Shawn, Candy Eyles, Shane Budd, Morgan Lasier and her husband, Nick, Lacey Budd, Grady Budd, Justin Budd; and several great-grandchildren. He was predeceased by his wife of 40 years, Catherine (Foley) Budd; and his daughter-in-law, Doris Budd.
A prayer service will be held on Thursday, December 22, 2016 at 11:00AM in the Foley Funeral Home, 49 Court Street, Keene. Burial with military honors will follow in St. Joseph Cemetery, Main Street, Keene. Family and friends are invited to call at the Foley Funeral Home from 9:30AM to 11:00AM.
