Elaine Schierioth

June 6, 1934July 3, 2019

Born in June 1936 in Norwood, Massachusetts, daughter of Orvil Hough and Marion Robinson. Preceded in death by her husband in 2001, Herman K. Schierioth. Loving mother of her three daughters Anna Schierioth of Fitzwilliam, Andrea Thackston of Troy and Stephanie Schierioth of Marlborough. Proud grandmother of Zaza Shamsedin of Keene, Annie Thackston of Northfield Ma, Richard Thackston of Troy and preceded in death by Elaine M. Thackston. Great-grandmother of Ellie Williams of Keene. Sister to Evan and Elden Hough of Norwood, Massachusetts.

Elaine was a very vivacious person, described as direct at times and very willing to offer others advice or help when the need arose.

After graduating high school she eventually ventured to New York City where she met her future husband Herman. Together they moved to first Troy and then Keene and in 1964 started HKS Associates, REALTORS. Elaine worked in Real Estate with her husband for over 50 years and was involved with numerous people throughout the Monadnock area. In retirement she enjoyed telling past stories and reliving the high points of her life. She enjoyed sunny days by driving around in her baby-blue VW convertible and winters in Florida.

Honoring her wishes there are no calling hours or funeral services beyond a graveside service which will be held on Thursday, July 11th, 2019 at 10:00AM at the Mountain View Cemetery located off of Route 12, Troy, NH. A reception will be held following the service. For those who wish, donations in lieu of flowers can be made to the St. James Church (44 West Street, Keene, NH 03431) where both Elaine and her late husband attended.

I am deeply sorry to learn of the loss Elaine. I loved her wit and sense of humor and her compassion for others. What fun listening to Hermann and Elaine exchange words together.

Elaine was so caring , compassionate and humane. A grand lady.

Elaine helped train me at Troy Mill’s office in the early 60’s. What a wonderful memory of stories and laughs. I had no experience with office machines and her patience and ability to teach let me keep my first office position!! My favorite story (later in life) was her trip to Alaska 😀❤️ I am sorry I just read this I would have liked to pay my respects. With my deepest condolences. Carrie Mattson

Elaine was one of my mom’s best friends and I LOVED when she came to visit us. She brought such energy and fun to our lives! We were lucky to spend a few visits with her family in Keene and she was there for my mom to help her sell a house (and buy one) when my parents split. She was a really great and honest friend.

I reconnected with her when I moved to Boston (as an adult). And got i to see her in Clearwater where she was vivacious as ever.

Sad to hear she passed and grateful to have known her!

Have a lot of happy memories of being with Elaine in New Hampshire, Florida, and a wonderful trip to Martha's Vineyard and Nantucket quite a few years ago with my mom,Hedy, and Elaine! Our Happy Hours in Florida were an almost daily staple, when she was here in the winter months! Will think of her often and will have a "Perfect Manhattan, straight up, with 2 cherries" , her favorite drink!! Am thinking of all of you and sending good thoughts!!!

Anna and family, sorry for your loss. I remember Anna talking about her parents when I started using HKS as my agent. I know she will be lost but in a better place for her with your dad.
