

Elinor Gosselin Furey, 90, a resident of Keene, New Hampshire and former resident of Andover, Massachusetts, passed away peacefully at Langdon Place of Keene, on Sunday, December 29, 2013, following a short period of declining health.
She was born July 26, 1923, the daughter of Anthony and Dora (Dubois) Gosselin. She was a 1941 graduate of Lowell High School, Lowell, MA. On August 12, 1950 she married, Raymond F. Furey.
Elinor held several jobs throughout her life, including working for Lowell Electric Light Company during World War II. She was most committed to her work as a homemaker and was a loving mother and grandmother. She most enjoyed spending time with family and friends. In their retirement while living in Florida, she and her husband traveled extensively all over the world. They were among those aboard the Queen Elizabeth II on its maiden voyage. Elinor and her husband were lifelong tennis players and played into their 80’s. They were also avid Bridge players.
Elinor was known for her outgoing personality and winsome smile. She included among her friendships people from all over the world. She was involved in the Andover (Massachusetts) Garden Club and spent years with Welcome Wagon when she and her family lived in Andover, MA. Elinor was often referred to as a “Social Sweetheart”. She had a very strong faith and she and her family were active members of the St. Augustine Catholic Church in Andover, MA and Espiritu Santo Catholic Church, in Safety Harbor, Florida. She also served as a volunteer for St. Vincent de Paul while living in Florida.
Elinor is survived by her daughter: Deborah F. Link and her husband Thomas, of Keene, NH, her son Richard A. Furey of Plainstow, NH, her daughter-in-law: Lee Furey of Sandwich, MA, four grandchildren: Joshua Furey, Nathan Furey, Molly Link and John Link, her brother: Robert Gosselin and his wife Louise of Chelmsford, MA, and many nieces, nephews, and extended family members. She is predeceased by her husband Raymond, and their son: John P. Furey.
A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, May 10, 2014 at the St. Joseph Cemetery in Chelmsford, Massachusetts, 96 Riverneck Road, at 11:00am. There will be no calling hours.
