Born in Carbondale, PA on September 10, 1918, she was the daughter of Harry and Annie Barnhart.
She grew up in Carbondale, attending local schools. After high school, she went to the Wyoming Seminary School where she studied business and secretarial skills.
Elisabeth resided with her husband and family first in Cedar Grove, NJ, and subsequently in Chevy Chase, MD, Carlisle, MA, and finally in Marlborough.
The main focus of her life was her relationship with her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. She was always an active member of each church that she attended. She taught Sunday school, led women’s Bible studies, and played the piano. She and her husband supported many missionaries over the course of their lives.
Her joy in life was the loving touch and care she placed in creating a wonderful home for her husband and children, for whom the sun rose and set. Her interests extended to her love of playing the piano, especially hymns. Her long, slender fingers graced the keys on the piano with delicate expertise. Elizabeth could be found creating wonderful knitting and crocheting projects. She was an avid reader throughout her life.
While residing in Chevy Chase, her love for sharing her home with others extended to the many dinners and social events she held at her home while she was involved with an outreach ministry called International Students, Inc.
Elisabeth will be greatly missed by her children, Ruth T. Kay and her husband Ronald, of Maynard, MA, Judith Taylor of Marlborough, her identical twin sons, John Taylor of Needham, MA and James Taylor of Templeton, MA; two granddaughters, Abigail Kay Ferreira, and Rebecca Gore and her husband, Joseph; and several nieces and a nephew. She was predeceased by her husband of 63 years, Floyd B. Taylor in May of 2006; a brother, Harry Barnhart, and a sister, Charlotte Davenport.
A funeral service will be held on Wednesday, July 6, 2016, at 11:00AM, in the Trinity Lutheran Church, 100 Maple Avenue, Keene, NH. Burial in the Massachusetts National Veterans Cemetery in Bourne, MA, will be private. Family and friends are invited to call on Tuesday evening from 6:00 to 8:00PM in the Foley Funeral Home, 49 Court Street, Keene.
In lieu of flowers, for those who wish, donations may be made in Mrs. Taylor’s memory to the Trinity Lutheran Church, 100 Maple Avenue, Keene, NH 03431.
