Elizabeth Anne Croteau

Her parents, Vera (Kamiensky) and Peter J. Wolkowicz, Sr., proudly welcomed their daughter into the world on October 8, 1939 in Ware, Massachusetts.

Betty grew up in Ware and was a 1957 graduate of Ware High School. She went on to hairdressing school and received her hairdresser’s license from the Academy in Springfield Massachusetts.

She opened her own salon, Look Lovely Beauty Salon in Marlborough, which she operated until her retirement in 2013. She passionately loved working with the public and as her cliental aged she would continue to provide services to them in their homes.

Betty also worked in the meat department at Hannaford’s in Keene for ten years, and for other business in the area, always in the capacity of helping others.

She was a longtime, active member of the Croteau-Coutts American Legion Post 24 Woman’s Auxiliary in Marlborough, holding several positions including president and vice-president. Also she was a longtime member of the Marlborough Fire Dept. Women’s Auxiliary.

Betty is a loving mother, grandmother, aunt and friend. She will be greatly missed by many including her sister, Victoria M. Pariseau and husband Richard of Ware MA, her son Mark J. Croteau and his partner, Linda (Pickering) Ellis of Swanzey NH; her daughters, Vikki M. Contreras and her husband, Bob, of Portsmouth, NH, and Lori A. Croteau of Winchester, NH; her two loving granddaughters, Margaret Contreras of Indiana and Elizabeth Croteau and her husband James Bragdon of Salem Oregon, her three grandsons, Robert Mitchell of concord NH, Patrick Croteau of Milwaukee Oregon, and Mathew Contreras of Portsmouth NH; and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by brother, Peter J. Wolkowicz, Jr.; and her former husband, Albert E. Croteau, with whom she remained close friends;

A graveside service will be held in the spring in the Meeting House Cemetery, Marlborough, at a date and time to be announced.
