Elizabeth Lucy Lincoln

Born on February 5, 1935, in Westport, NH, she was the daughter of Charles H. and Pearl (Read) Lawrence. Betty is survived by her loving daughter Sharon and her husband Mark Rhoades, and her cherished grandchildren Christina and husband Colin McGarty, and Trevor and wife Leanne Rhoades. She was a proud great-grandmother to Addy and Flynn McGarty. Betty also leaves behind her brother Raymond Lawrence, sister-in-law JoAnn Lincoln, her lifelong best friend Norma Howe, and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Betty was predeceased by her beloved husband, Robert “Bob” Lincoln, and their son, Gary. She was also predeceased by her siblings Edith “DeeDee” Wood, Arthur “Timer” Lawrence, Leonard “Lenny” Lawrence, and Theron “Terry” Lawrence.

Throughout her life, Betty brought warmth and joy to those around her. She was a familiar face in Keene, having worked for many years at the Monadnock Shopper News, Goodnow’s Department Store—a job she truly loved—and Hannah’s Books before retiring at the age of 82.

Betty found great joy in simple pleasure with visits to Foxwoods, time with family, and especially baking. She was famous for her chocolate chip cookies, lovingly dubbed “the best ever,” and her legendary fudge and caramel popcorn, which she delighted in sharing with others.

She will be remembered not only for her sweet treats but also for her sweeter soul. Betty was dearly loved and will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing her.

The family wishes to extend heartfelt thanks to the staff at American House in Keene for their compassionate care over the last three years, and to Hospice of HCS for their support during her final days.

Family and friends are invited to a time of visitation on Tuesday, July 8th from 4:00 to 6:00 p.m. at the Foley Funeral Home, 49 Court Street, Keene. A committal service will be held on Wednesday, July 9th at 11:30 a.m. at Monadnock View Cemetery, Keene.
