

He was born in Newbury, MA on August 1st, 1927, the son of Fred and Grace (Haskel) Richer. He grew up in Newbury and attended schools there.
Mr. Richer entered the US Army in 1945 and served during peace time in Germany. He was honorably discharged in 1947.
He was a painter by trade and worked on interior and exterior painting jobs both on residential and commercial properties. He retired after 50 years in the profession.
Mr. Richer was a member of the American Legion Post 85 in Gilsum and a Post Commander for 15 years; in addition, he served as Adjutant and Secretary. He was also a member of the VFW Daley Whipple Post in Keene and supported the Disabled American Veterans (DAV) Charity. His service to others extended to his work as a member of the Alstead Area Masonic Association and as a Bektash Shriner of New Hampshire.
He enjoyed golfing, gardening, yard work, playing cards and was fascinated with covered bridges. He also enjoyed spending time with his family including trips to visit his family in NY.
His family remembers him as a joker, one who had no enemies, always willing to help others and never saying “no” to someone in need.
He is survived by his companion of over 30 years and wife of 13 years, Keitha Richer of Stoddard; his step daughters Linda Taylor, and husband Clifford, of Sandy Creek, NY, Loretta Eastman of Mannsville, NY, Loraine Palmer, and significant other Gene Brimmer, of Lorraine, NY and Labecca Miller, and significant other David Manchester, of Mannsville, NY; his granddaughter and great granddaughter, 13 step grandchildren, 19 step great grandchildren and 3 step great great grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. His sons John and David Richer, his brothers and sisters, and son-in-law Jim Eastman, all died earlier.
Calling hours will be held for Mr. Richer on Wednesday, May 27th, 2015, from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Fletcher Funeral Home & Cremation Services, 33 Marlboro St., Keene, NH. (www.fletcherfuneralhome.com) Burial will be private.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made in Mr. Richer’s name to the Shriners Hospital for Children — Boston, 51 Blossom St., Boston, MA 02114.
