Frederick William Henry Ziegler Jr., 92 of Walpole, a beloved husband, father, grandfather, and friend, passed away peacefully on January 4, 2026. Born in the Bronx, New York, to Mae (Bernhart) Ziegler and Frederick William Henry Ziegler Sr., Fred lived a life defined by devotion, service, humor, and music.
A gifted athlete from an early age, Fred was pursued by the NY Yankees and Giants baseball teams before attending Hofstra University, where he distinguished himself as a rare three sport competitor, playing baseball, football, and, after an impromptu javelin throw, track and field, setting a school record. After Hofstra, he was drafted into the United States Army, where he served proudly in the Military Police. Fred worked for many years at Peerless Insurance Company in Keene, now Liberty Mutual, rising to Regional Claims Supervisor before his retirement.
Fred's deep love for family and community shaped every chapter of his life. He spent many years coaching youth football and baseball. A devoted son, he brought joy to his mother's nursing home with his ukulele, filling the rooms with music and laughter. That same spirit carried to his cherished Pine Point family, where his ukulele became a signature part of gatherings at the fire pit.
Faith was a cornerstone of Fred's life. He was an active member of Trinity Lutheran Church, serving as an elder, singing in the choir, and playing a key role in the founding of Trinity Christian School. He offered his time, energy, and heart to help build a place where children could grow in faith and learning.
Fred is survived by his wife of 67 years, Carolyn (Johnson) Ziegler; his daughter Alison and her husband John Fischer; his son Frederick, III and his wife Lisa Bourassa; Lisa's daughter Michelle Bourassa; and grandchildren Zack and Mason Fischer. His legacy lives on in the family he loved and the many lives he touched with kindness, humor, and song.
