He was born on December 29, 1950, in Huntington, LI, NY, the son of Pauline (Smith) and John P. Campbell, Jr.
He graduated from Huntington High School and attended Nathaniel Hawthorn College with an aviation major. After obtaining his pilot’s license he had a sea plane he based out of Spofford Lake. As a child he spent all his summers on Spofford, eventually living there. He was an excellent water skier, mastering barefoot skiing. He would be seen driving the boat around the lake for his 80-year-old mother to slalom ski. George’s construction business led him to be the Regional District Manager for Kobelco Company when they began marketing in the U.S. Over the years he was in sales for a number of companies.
George was a sky diving instructor at Turner’s Falls Parachute Center and was a skydiver in Orange, MA. He delighted children at Roosevelt School and Symonds School in Keene and Wells Memorial School in Harrisville by parachuting into their school fields. He’d even skydive into the small space of his parent’s driveway in Spofford.
George is survived by his sister Pamela (Dean) Hoyt and sister-in-law Mary K. Campbell, as well as a son and a daughter. He is predeceased by his parents, and his older brother John P. Campbell III.
Services and burial will be held privately by the family.
