

He is survived by his wife of 53 years Susan J. (Carr) Hipple, his sons: Stephen Hartwell of Swanzey, Bruce Hartwell (Amy Lynch) of New Boston, John Hartwell (Patricia) of Dublin and William Hipple (Cindy Rees) of Oakville, ON Canada, his 13 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren. He is also survived by his brother Gary Snyder of Phoenix, AZ and his sister Barbara Balch of Montpelier, VT and so many other family members and special friends.
He was born in Philadelphia, PA on June 25, 1928 to Glen Henry Sr. and Ruth Edna (Dixey) Hipple. Glen is a graduate of the Girard College of Philadelphia and he attended Norwich University for 2 years before enlisting in the United States Marine Corps.
He served our country for 11 years, overseas during the Korean conflict and also stateside at various duty posts. He was honorably discharged in 1961 with the rank of Gunnery Sergeant. Glen moved to Keene where he took a position at the Keene Evening Sentinel as a staff reporter and photographer. On April 27, 1963 at the United Church of Christ he married Susan Jane Carr.
He was a former owner of Carr’s Store in Dublin, NH, a Dublin Town Selectman and a Little League coach. After selling the store, Glen worked for South West Regional Planning Commission and was later employed at the Keene State College as an Assistant Facilities Plant Manager for 10 years where he was known to ride his bike to work every day.
A memorial service to celebrate Glen’s life will be held on Friday June 10, 2016 11:00am at Fletcher Funeral Home with the burial following at Pine Hill Cemetery, Peterborough, NH. There are no public calling hours. In lieu of flowers the family requests donations be made to the Alzheimer’s Association http://www.alzmass.org/donate.asp in honor of Glen H. Hipple.
