Hans was born in Manhattan, NY, on September 26, 1937, to August and Elsa Clara ( Marhoun ) Bolewski. As a child his family moved to Swanzey, in 1945, and it was there he called home. He was a 1955 graduate of Keene High School and shortly after he went to work at the family restaurant, The ALPS. He later would become owner/ operator and chef of the restaurant for the next 40+ years till it’s closing in 1997. He truly enjoyed serving and feeding the folks of his community.
He married Jean M. Miller on April 23, 1972.
He enjoyed spending free time fishing and doing wood working projects around the home. He was a skilled artist, and a talented drawer. A passion of working on automobiles led him to keeping his truck, that he purchased in 1974, up until just recently and keeping it running with over 200,000 miles. However, feeding his friends and family and spending time with his children and grandchildren brought him much happiness and satisfaction.
He is survived by his wife of over 43 years: Jean M Bolewski of Swanzey; his children: Steven M Bolewski and his wife Robin of Skaneateles, NY, Gregory P Bolewski of Keene and Erich H Bolewski and his wife Rikki of Ashuelot as well as 9 grandchildren. He was predeceased, earlier this year, by his sister Anneliese E. Bolewski.
