

Tall of stature, soft of heart, loud of voice with a soul of pure gold – Curt Nowill left his mark on all who came to know him. He left us on Christmas Day, quietly, enjoying the sounds of his family gathered at his bedside.
Born May 26, 1936 in Springfield, MA, he was the son of Harold and Dorothy Wyman Nowill.
On October 15, 1955, Curt married Alice Mueller, the love of his life, in Wilbraham, MA, and they shared 58 happy years of marriage.
Curt was a retired local businessman and entrepreneur. Together with his wife, Alice, he owned and operated several businesses in the Keene area: Court Street Market, Riverside Grocery & Motel and Nowill’s General Store.
Prior to moving to New Hampshire in 1970, Mr. Nowill worked as an industrial engineer at Kaman Aircraft in Bloomfield, CT for 17 years.
Mr. Nowill was also a former selectman for the town of Chesterfield and was an active member of the community, serving on several town committees.
Curt was member of Jerusalem Lodge 104 of the Masons and was a Shriner. He was also a member of the Keene Elks Lodge 927 where he was three time Past Exalted Ruler. Mr. Nowill held lifetime membership to the National Rifle Association.
Curt loved to sing, and did so as often as he could, as a member of his church choirs and Keene Pop Choirs.
Curt is survived by his wife: Alice of Keene, NH; and was a wonderful father to his children: Keith Nowill of Piermont, NH, Cheri Wiley and her husband, Steve of Portland, ME and Bonnie Nowill of Woodsville, NH; a brother: Gregory Nowill of Russell, MA; a sister: Barbara Malandrakis of West Springfield, MA; 10 grandchildren: Daniel Nowill of Harrisville, NH, Keith Dilworth of Boise, ID, Jennifer Humphrey of Stoddard, NH, Kelly Castor of Roxbury, NH, Michelle Nowill of Keene, NH, Jesse Moore of Winchester, NH, Kristin Nowill of Spofford, NH, Hallie Huntley of Keene, NH, Reilly Musgrave of Portland, ME and Rebecca Huntley of Woodsville, NH; and seven great grandchildren: Robert and Thomas Nowill, Brooke and Hannah Castor, and Kade, Jonny and Lexi Dilworth.

A memorial service will be conducted at 2:00 PM January 1, 2014 at Asbury Methodist Church, 532 Route 63, Chesterfield, NH 03443, with Pastor Scott Masters officiating.
A Celebration of Life will be held from 4:00 to 8:00 PM January 1, 2014 at the Elks Club, 81 Roxbury St, Keene, NH 03431.
