He was born January 6, 1953 in Keene, NH, the son of Geraldine (Sweeney) and Harold L. Rivers, Sr. He attended area school and graduated from Keene High School in 1971.
Harold was employed by the Kingsbury Corporation for over 25 years as a machinist. He was known for being a hard worker, but even better known as being a true friend to his coworkers – many whom he considered his best friends.
Thought of as a kind and generous man, Harold was devoted to his family and there wasn’t anything he wouldn’t do to help any of them. He enjoyed rock music and attending concerts – the Doobie Brothers being one of his favorite bands. Catch and release fishing was one of his favorite outdoor activities as was Jeeping with friends on local adventures. During NASCAR races, you could find Harold routing on Dale Earnhardt and later Dale, Jr. Harold had a voracious appetite and could out eat anyone – especially when it came to bologna sandwiches. Cribbage was a favorite card game of Harold, but he will be remembered especially for his epic games of War using four or five decks of cards and lasting days.
Harold will be greatly missed by his daughter: Sherri Hudson and her husband Bob of Chesterfield, NH; son: Jarrod Rivers of Keene, NH; grandchildren: Logan Rivera, Keeley Rivera, Gage Rivera, Heath Hudson, Zain Rivers-Norton, and Matthew Norton; sister: Linda Kenyon and her husband Rollin Paight of Keene, NH; nieces Lanise Tarr, Jodean Hunt-Wheeler, Renee Lawrence, and Stefanie Kenyon and their husbands; many great nieces and nephews; and the loving staff at Keene Center Genesis.
Harold was predeceased by both of his parents and sister Sharon Farwell.
A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date. A private burial will take place at the family lot at St. Joseph’s Cemetery in Keene, NH.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in Harold L. Rivers, Jr’s name to the Huntington’s Disease Foundation, PO Box 912, Salado, TX 76571 (www.HuntingtonsDiseaseFoundation.org).
