Hazel I. Baker

Hazel I. Baker, 97, of Keene, NH passed away on Monday, Feb. 10, 2014 at Langdon Place in Keene.
She was born in Hampden, MA on Nov. 5, 1916 to Joseph W. Milner and Charlotte E. (Carver) Milner. She was adopted by Henry O. Blair and Velna B. Blair on January 20, 1919. She lived in Keene with her family and attended the Keene schools. She lived in Littleton, NH for about ten years of her married life before returning to Keene in 1954.
She was predeceased by her beloved husband, Gordon E. Baker, who died in 1984. She was also predeceased by her son, Ronald C. Baker, who died in 2006. Ronald’s wife Phyllis Baker lives in Milford, NH.
Among Hazel’s many friends and family are her son Gary G. Baker and his wife Barbara Baker of Wolfeboro, NH as well as her daughter, Janice B. Barrett and her husband John Barrett of Stoddard, NH. She also leaves grandchildren Karen Cvitkovich and her husband David Cvitkovich of Southboro, MA, Amy Amico and her husband David Amico of Merrimac, MA, Kevin Baker and his girlfriend Robin Hill of San Diego, CA, Julie Barrett of Boston, MA, Jenelle Smedley and her husband Brad Smedley of Keene, Jonna Endara and her husband Homero Endara of West Chester, PA, and Craig Baker and his wife Pam Baker of Manchester, NH. She also had ten great - grandchildren who she treasured.
Hazel’s family was most important to her and she took pride in being a good wife, mother and grandmother. She and Gordon had many friends in their married life and enjoyed getting together with them. She especially enjoyed dancing to good bands. Everyone who knew her appreciated her quick wit and good humor. She loved to read good novels. A few months before she died she said she felt so lucky to have had such a long, good life.
A memorial service is planned and will be announced for some time in the spring, to be held at the United Church of Christ on Central Square in Keene. Fletcher Funeral Home & Cremation Services, 33 Marlboro St., Keene, NH are in charge of the arrangements.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be sent in her name to the United Church of Christ, 23 Central Square, Keene NH 03431 or to Langdon Place of Keene, 136A Arch Street, Keene, NH 03431 where she lived for the last several years of her life and where she and her family appreciated the care and concern of the staff.

I am so sorry to hear of Mrs. Baker's passing. I used to live next door to her on Fairview St and she was always so nice to us. She was a very sweet lady and I have thought of her often throughout the years. So sorry for your loss.
