

He was born in Jaffrey, N.H., on August 7, 1937 son of Hector J. and Flora (Plouffe) Courchene. He grew up in Jaffrey and was a graduate of Conant High School.
He went to work at MPB in Keene and was there for 44 years and was a foreman upon retirement in July, 1999.
In September of 1961, he married Janet Wyman of Peterborough and celebrated 53 years of marriage this past September.
Red enjoyed the outdoors, hunting and fishing and working in his woodlots. He especially enjoyed hunting with his son and grandson.
He was very active in AA for over 40 years and was often a featured speaker at meetings throughout the area. He had the privilege of being a sponsor to many people. He enjoyed telling stories.
He and his wife Janet traveled to a number of destinations during their retirement including Alaska, England, Ireland, Italy and the South West.
Red’s family remembers him as a straight shooter, an honest man who was loyal to his family and his friends and always willing to offer a helping hand.
He is survived by his wife Janet Courchene of Marlborough, his son James and his wife Noreen of Woodstock, Georgia, and their three children Joseph, Sarah and Kate, his daughter Diane Bacon and husband Edwin of Roswell Georgia; his sister Pauline Ricard of Jaffrey, his nephew David Ricard and wife Kelly and his children Paul and Rachel of Jaffrey, his niece Paula Mason and her husband Jon and their daughter Hannah of Nashua.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Saturday, March 14, 2015, 10:00 AM at St. Bernard’s Church, 173 Main St. Keen, NH. Calling hours will be held on Friday, March 13, 2015, from 5:00 pm -7:00 pm, at Fletcher Funeral Home & Cremation Services, 33 Marlboro St. Keene, NH. Burial will be held in the spring in the family lot at Meeting House Cemetery in Marlborough, NH.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that contributions in his name be made to a charity of their choice.
