

He was born July 8, 1920 in Gilsum, New Hampshire, the son of Homer and Mary Agnes (Harrington) Brown. He was a 1940 graduate of Keene High School. He proudly served our Nation in the United States Army Air Force, and fought bravely in the Pacific Air Offensive during World War II. Homer was awarded the Asiatic Pacific Theater Campaign Ribbon, American Theater Campaign Ribbon, a Good Conduct Medal, and a Victory Medal. On May 8, 1948 he married the love of his life Arlene Fish. Mr. Brown was the longest serving employee at the Markem Corporation in Keene, having been an employee there for over fifty-two years.
Homer was a very compassionate and giving man who thought of others before himself. He taught his children to give to those who were in need and modeled unselfishness throughout his life . He was a member of the Knights of Columbus and an active member in the Parish of the Holy Spirit, where both he and his wife took part in various activities at St. Margaret Mary Church in Keene, NH. Homer loved to spend time with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren: whether he was playing catch with them in the back yard or cheering them on at one of their sporting events, he loved to be with them and show his support.
He is survived by his wife of sixty-four years: Arlene Brown of Holly Springs, NC., his son: Tony Brown of West Swanzey, NH, three daughters: Mary Skiba and her husband Bud of Portland, Oregon, Dr. Lynda Randall of Tustin, CA, and Kathy Padgett and her husband Keith of Holly Springs, NC., seven grandchildren, four great-grandchildren, and many nieces, nephews and cousins. He is predeceased by his son: David Brown, his brother: Jack Teirey, and his sister: Elizabeth Partridge.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Margaret Mary Church, on Arch Street in Keene, NH on Thursday, April 26, 2012 at 12:30pm. Burial will follow in the St. Joseph Cemetery, Main Street in Keene, NH. Family and friends are invited to call on the family from 6 to 8pm on Wednesday, April 25, 2012 at the Foley Funeral Home, 49 Court Street Keene, NH.
