James H. Hastings Jr.

James H. “Jim” Hastings, Jr., 68 of Harrisville, passed away on March 11, 2019 with family by his side at the Jack Byrnes Center in Lebanon, NH after a brief illness.

He was born in Nashua, NH on February 1, 1951, the son of James and Ruth (Bemis) Hastings. Growing up Jim was an active Boy Scout and achieved the highest rank of Eagle Scout. He graduated from Keene High School, class of 1968. He furthered his education, receiving a Bachelors degree in surveying and forestry from Paul Smith’s College in New York and later an Associates degree in manufacturing and engineering from New Hampshire Technical College.

On June 8, 1975 he married the love of his life Patricia McIlvain. Jim was a devoted and loving husband and father. There wasn’t anything he wouldn’t do for his family.

Jim was a member of the Community Church of Harrisville. He enjoyed his summers spent on Silver Lake in Harrisville. Golf and baseball, both playing and watching, were some of his favorite past times. Jim loved the outdoors and submersing himself in nature. Jim most enjoyed spending time with his family. He will be greatly missed and remembered for his kindness and compassionate disposition.

Jim is survived by his wife: Pat Hastings of Harrisville; daughter: Jenna Hastings and her husband Martin Gross of Surry; daughter-in-law: Valerie Hastings of Saranac Lake,, NY; grandchildren: Noah Hastings and a grandson on the way he was most excited to meet; sister: Leslie Downing and her husband Russell of Harrisville; nephews: George Downing, Brian Downing, and Skylar Downing; and his dog who was always by his side: Lucy.

He was predeceased by his parents and son: James H. Hastings, III.

A graveside service at Willard Hill Cemetery in Harrisville will be announced at a later date.

to Pat and sorry to learn of Jim's passing. I remember seeing him in the West Keene store when I was in town one day visiting the old home town we had a nice talk that day.,,,,,, remember me to the rest of the family, Leslie and Russ...………….and again my condolences on his passing. jane dunn…..
