surrounded by her family, after a courageous battle with cancer.
She was born on October 25, 1951 in Hackensack NJ, to Dr. Alexander and Martha Goudie the first of their four daughters. As the eldest daughter, Jean took on the role of guiding and supporting her sisters. She grew up in Edison, NJ until graduating from Edison High School and going on to Keene State College. She graduated in 1974 with a B.S. of Education with
Home Economics and Minor in Secondary Education.
The day after graduating for KSC, May 25th, 1974, she married Ralph D. Walter, the love of her life. In December 1974, Jason was born. Two years later Jennifer was born May of 1977, then along came Jeffrey, June of 1978. There the family grew with love in everything we did. Jean loved to make her family happy. We went camping, took on farming, cross country skiing, snowmobiling, numerous road trips, school auctions, family reunions, parties, vacations at Pine Point Scarborough ME, Camden ME, Granite Lake, Disney World, Sarasota, and Venice Florida (with a smile). Jean helped with school projects, was a boy scout den mother, girl scout leader, and helped with church suppers as a member of Nelson Congregational Church. She loved going to see her grandkids sporting events, dance and music recitals. In 2015, she retired from her employment at Polyonics in Westmoreland NH, which she loved for 17 years. Family was always first. Jean always had a caring, positive heart and inspired everyone to love one another. She had a calm soul with the “everything is going to be ok” attitude and “let’s take one day at a time” way of living. We will forever miss Jean, Mom, Bam, Grandma Whoa.
She is survived by her loving husband Ralph Water, her loving children, Jason Walter of Nelson, Jennifer Main and husband Jim Main of Marlborough, Jeffrey Walter and girlfriend Deb-bie Dunlap of Antrim; mother-in-law of Nelson, Priscilla Walter; three sisters, Anne and husband Bob Wittik of Ewing NJ, Janet and husband Bill Liggett of Chester NJ, Karen and husband An-thony Cabbibbo of Venice FL, her Aunt Jean Quantmeyer of Naples, FL, cousin Ellen Quantmeyer of Warwick RI; six grandchildren: Kendra Walter, Kayle Walter, Christiana Walter, Cody Kendrick, Skyler Main, and Molly Main along with many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
