He was born, in Keene, on April 27, 1942, the son of John K. and Marion G. (Messier) Abbott, Sr. He was a graduate of Keene High School and was a Reservist with the United States National Guard.
He worked as a painter locally, for many different painting companies, until his retirement.
On March 27, 1993 he married Winnifred Clement, in a ceremony at the Harrisville Squires Inn.
He enjoyed hunting and four wheeling, as well as target shooting. Down time was spent playing the guitar or taking trips to one of his favorite places, the beach in Ogunquit, ME. Superseding all else was his love of and pride in his children.
He is survived by his wife of nearly 20 years: Winnifred Abbott of N. Swanzey; a son: Michael Abbott and his children: Michael Abbott, Jr., Alyssa Abbott and Amanda Abbott, all of Surry; a daughter: Melanie Abbott Labonte and her children: Hayden Labonte and Taylor Abbott, all of Swanzey; his step children : Greg Vaudreuil of Swanzey and Tammy Gilbeau and her husband Michael of Mobile, AL., and a brother Gary Abbott and his wife Laura of Florida.
There will be no public calling hours. Services will be private. A graveside service will be held in the spring in St Joseph Catholic Cemetery.
