
He was born in Chester, NH September 15, 1927, the son of Philip and Blanche (Nichols) Hazelton. Born in the family home, Mr. Hazelton went on to graduate from Pinkerton Academy.
In 1950, Mr. Hazelton was a veteran having served in the US Army and had been stationed in Germany until 1952.
He went on to graduate from the Manchester Technical Institute and then from Keene State College in 1957 with a degree in Industrial Arts. He completed his masters work in education also at Keene State College.
On August 17, 1958, Mr. Hazelton married Janice Scott in Haverhill, MA.
Mr. Hazelton had a long career in education beginning as a teacher in Tilton before teaching at Narragansett Regional High School, retiring as the head of the Industrial Arts department after 35 years. During the same time, he worked for Troy Mills as a draftsman in the evenings and summers.
After retirement, Mr. Hazelton worked as a substitute teacher at the Troy Elementary School.
He was an active member of the Troy Trinitarian Congregational Church for many years serving as a deacon, trustee and usher. He had also served as a Scoutmaster for the Cub Scouts and Boy Scouts as well as an Indian Guide Leader.
Mr. Hazelton was a long time member of the Masonic order. He was a Past Master of the Monadnock Lodge #80 F&AM in Troy and also a member of the Jerusalem Lodge #104 F&AM in Keene. and had received his 60 year pin. He was a member of the Order of Eastern Star.
Mr. Hazelton was an accomplished woodworker and enjoyed puttering around the house. He had a keen interest in old cars and tractors. He also enjoyed time spent at their cottage in Maine and especially enjoyed time spent with family.
He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Janice Hazelton of Troy; his daughter Janet Hazelton of Proctor, VT; his son Scott Hazelton, and wife Susan, of Westford, MA; three grand children Andrew, Sarah and Jamie also of Westford, MA. His brother Llewellyn Hazelton and sister Lois Hazelton died earlier.
Services for Mr. Hazelton will be held on Saturday, January 14th, 2012, 11:00 AM at Fletcher Funeral Home and Cremation Services, 33 Marlboro St., Keene, NH. Calling hours will be held one hour before. Burial will be held in the spring.
