Jon A. Eklund

He was born in Ashland, MA on October 29, 1938, the son of Algot and Asta (Gast) Eklund. He was a graduate of Ashland High School in Ashland, MA. Mr. Eklund went on to graduate from MIT in 1960 with a Bachelor of Science in Chemical Engineering. He spent most of his adult life in Chelmsford, MA and Walpole, NH.

After MIT, Mr. Eklund served in the US Navy for two years. He then married Nancy Johnson in 1964.

Mr. Eklund worked for several companies as a chemical engineer including Cabot Corporation in Bellerica, MA and General Electric in Lowell, MA. He retired as a manager from Whitney Blake in Bellows Falls, VT in 2001.

Mr. Eklund was a member of Sigma XI, the Scientific Research Society for many years.

He enjoyed playing Bridge and was a member of several area book groups and music groups. In addition, he was an accomplished classical pianist.

Mr. Eklund is survived by his two daughters Kristen Remondi, and husband Stephen, of Winchester, MA and Heidi Biggar, and husband Lee, of Tyrone, GA; five grandchildren, Michael, Daniel, Samuel, Taylor and Lindsey; two sisters Ellen Wolosinski of Lexington, MA and Gertrude Perrault of Burlington, VT; close companion Susan Fratus of Keene; and many nieces and nephews. Mr. Eklund’s wife, Nancy Eklund died in 2003.

Services for Mr. Eklund will be held on Friday, March 9th, 2012 at 11:30 am at Fletcher Funeral Home and Cremation Services, 33 Marlboro St., Keene, NH. Calling hours will be held one hour before. (www.fletcherfuneralhome.com)
