Joseph G. Bobbin

He was born in Northampton, Mass., August 05, 1953, the son of Helen Elizabeth (O’Connor) and Joseph George Bobbin, Sr. He grew up in Florence, Mass., attending local schools.

Mr. Bobbin attended Assumption College in Worcester, MA, where he received a degree in Social Studies. He completed his Master’s Degree from the American International College in Springfield, Mass. He later attended Keene State College where his studies focused on elementary education and guidance

His work career of over twenty years centered around education, first, as a elementary teacher and assistant principal at Marlborough High School. Then a social studies teacher at Keene Middle School and finally as a assistant principal at Keene Middle School.

His love for working with children extended to his love for coaching sports. He was a softball coach for the Lady Dukes of Marlborough High School; soccer coach at the Keene Middle School; assisted with the coaching of his son, Jared’s basketball, baseball and soccer teams; and refereeing for area school basketball, baseball and soccer teams, as well as men’s basketball leagues.

He loved the ocean, and was an avid New England sports fan, UMASS Basketball, and Notre Dame Football fan. He enjoyed trips with friends and his son to local games.

He is survived by his wife of 32 years, Susan E. (Bourke) Bobbin of Sullivan; a son, Jared S. Bobbin of Sullivan, NH; a sister, Kathleen Fagan of Connecticut; a brother-in-law, Michael Mullally and his wife, Missy, of Keene, NH; his mother-in-law Terese Mullally, of Marlborough, NH; and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by a brother-in-law, Robert Bourke.

A celebration of life for Mr. Bobbin will be held Friday, January 23, 2015 from 2:00 to 4:00 and 6:00 to 8:00 PM at the Foley Funeral Home, 49 Court Street, Keene. Family and friends are welcome. Burial will be private.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the Keene Middle School, 167 Maple Avenue, Keene, NH 03431, in memory of Joe Bobbin.
