Josephine Louise Houghton

She was born, in Norwalk, CT., on November 5, 1936, to Bessie Waters and was raised from birth by her grandmother, Ethel Rogers. She attended area schools.

On December 15, 1962, she married Jerome C. Houghton, in a ceremony in Keene NH They enjoyed nearly 38 years of marriage before his death in 2000.

Mrs. Houghton’s life revolved around her home, her family and the children she raised or took care of. She loved to cook and nurture the people nearest to her. When she did take time for herself, she enjoyed shopping, pocketbooks were her vice. Time spent playing online solitaire was also enjoyed.

She is survived by her daughter: Carol L’Ecuyer of Keene; a son: Edward Burnham of Bellows Falls VT,and his wife Cindy Simpson Burnham; two sisters: Dorothy Hallock of Florida and Helen Somers of Florida, A brother Harrison Burnham of NJ, eight grandchildren and 9 great grandchildren; as well as several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband: Jerome C. Houghton, a daughter: Ethel Burnham; and a brother: Francis Burnham.

In keeping with Jo’s wishes, there are no public calling hours and services will be private.
