Kay M. MacLean

Kay M. MacLean 65, of 14 Southview Drive, Keene, NH died after a period of declining health at the Dartmouth-Hitchcock Medical Center in Lebanon, NH on Friday evening, March 7, 2013 with her loving family by her side.

She was born in Ortonville, Minnesota on January 30, 1949 the daughter of Barnhardt and Mary (Kamin) Haugen. Kay grew up and attended local schools in Grand Haven, MI. She graduated from Muskegon Community College in 1970 where she received her diploma as a Licensed Practical Nurse. She later worked as a surgical nurse at the Hackley Hospital in Muskegon, MI.

Kay met her husband John in 1970 and they were married in Grand Haven in 1970 where they started their family.

In 1985 Kay graduated with honors from Trinity College in Burlington, VT where she received her bachelor’s degree in business. Kay has been serving as the Assistant Director of Alumni and Family Affairs at Keene State College where she has worked for the past fifteen years.

Kay loved to be with her family and friends. She enjoyed painting, gardening, knitting, and other crafts. She also loved to go Kayaking and traveling. In 1998 Kay was able to donate a kidney to her son Scott.

She is survived by her husband, John A. MacLean, of Keene, three sons; Scott A. MacLean and his wife Sandra of Surry, NH, Eric C. MacLean of Keene, and Seth M. MacLean and his wife Tabatha) of Fitzwilliam, NH; three grandchildren; Tre MacLean, Sydney MacLean, and Abigail MacLean; a brother, Ronald Haugen and his wife Mary of Mayfield, KY; brother and sister-in-laws; Richard ad Kate MacLean of Oxford, MA and Kathleen MacLean and Vincent -Placzek of Westfield, MA; among her many nieces and nephew she had a close bond with her niece Sarah (Haugen) Powell. A brother, Charles Haugen died earlier.

Funeral services are incomplete and a time of remembrance will be held this spring at a date and time to be announced. There are no visiting hours.
