Ken was my 7th-grade math teacher at Mascoma Valley in NH. Since he lived only a couple doors down the street, he spent a lot of time at our house eating meals and playing cards (pinochle) with my family. After moving to AZ, he taught high school math for a couple of years and came back to Keene for parts of his summer breaks. The summer between my Jr and Sr years he invited me and another friend to fly out to Phoenix, and drive with him back to NH. Before heading home, he very generously toured us around AZ, San Diego, L.A., and across the Mexican border. It was my first time flying, and my first time out of New England... life-altering. This grand tour led to my enrolling at ASU in Tempe and escaping NH's cold winters for 3 yrs. I have Ken to thank for my continued love for traveling the US. We visited each other infrequently, but he remained a good family friend for 55 yrs, until the day he passed.
