

Kenneth H. LaChance, 87, of Chesterfield, formerly of McKinley Circle, Marlborough, passed on to be with his loving wife on Wednesday, Dec. 3, 2014 after a long courageous battle with Alzheimer’s. He was surrounded by his loving family at the home of his daughter and Son-in-Law.
He was born, in Lebanon, NH, on Dec. 13, 1926, son of Wilfred and Alice (Harwood) LaChance. He graduated from Lebanon High School and attended the University of Connecticut, majoring in basic engineering. Kenneth served in the US Army, with a rank of “Technical Fourth Class”. Mr. LaChance was honorably discharged in 1946. He graduated from Dartmouth College in 1949, with a degree in Physics.
Mr. LaChance later discovered a passion for design, thus started his advertising career. He designed flyers for Cross Co. in White River Jct., VT and Holbrook Grocery Co. of Keene, and newspaper advertising for the Claremont Eagle, Nashua Telegraph, Valley News in Lebanon, Argus Champion in Newport, and Monadnock Shopper News of Keene.
He was an avid hunter and enjoyed many years of father-son time chasing big bucks. He was a huge history buff and loved museums. He enjoyed hiking through old battlefields and read every plaque he ever came across. He looked forward to vacationing every summer at the ocean in Rye NH with his wife and family. He loved the ocean and took every opportunity possible to ride on any vessel that could float. Besides his love of lighthouses and their history, he enjoyed long brisk walks, a passion shared with his daughter.
Survivors include his son: Lee K. LaChance and his wife Patricia of St. Albans, VT; his daughter: Lin S. (LaChance) Sullivan and her husband Robert of Chesterfield; five grandchildren: Meaghan (LaChance) Beyor and her husband Jonathon of Highgate Center, VT, Blaine LaChance of Jeffersonville, VT, Nicole Wilcox of Winchester, Dustin Wilcox of Chesterfield, Courtney Penny of Baltimore, MD.; three great grandchildren: Brendon Beyor, Alexis Beyor and Tremaine Williams; as well as several nieces, nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews. Mr. LaChance was pre deceased by his wife, of 55 years: Esther D. LaChance; his grandson: Brian Neil Sullivan; and his sister Regis E. McNamara.
Services for Mr. LaChance will be held on Monday, December 8, 2014 at 7:00 at the Fletcher Funeral Home. Calling hours will be held prior to the service from 5:00 until 7:00. Burial will take place in the spring at the Meetinghouse Cemetery in Marlborough.
