Larry Richard Waters

His parents, Robert J. and Lillie M. (Russell) Waters welcomed their son into the world on May 8, 1940, in Wilmington, VT. He grew up in Wilmington graduating from Wilmington High School.

Larry served his country in the United States Army and later as a member of the Army Reserves for eight years.

His work career centered on that of a machinist and in maintenance with Kingsbury Corporation and later with Timken Corporation both of Keene. Following his retirement, he continued to work as the property manager and animal investigator with the Monadnock Humane Society in Swanzey.

Larry served his community as a part-time police officer with the Town of Swanzey from 1973 until 1991; as a twenty-five-year member of the Swanzey Fire Department Center Company; and as the director of Emergency Management with the town.

He enjoyed dancing with his wife, Martha, and helping her with her vegetable gardens. Larry loved being outdoors, doing yard work and fishing. He loved watching NASCAR and also watching the races at the Monadnock Speedway in Winchester, NH.

He will be greatly missed by many in the community, especially his wife of 63 years, Martha A. (Batchelder) Waters of Swanzey; his children, Douglas Waters and his life partner Brenda Prime of Keene, Bradley Waters of Swanzey, Susan Shaulis and her husband, Kevin of Germantown, MD; his grandchildren, Brandon Waters and his wife Emily, Megan Waters and her partner Jessie LaBarre; and several nieces, nephews and extended family members. Two brothers, Robert Waters, Larry’s twin brother Lee Waters, and a sister, Peggy Aron, predeceased him.

A funeral service will be held on Friday, October 10, 2025, at 11:30am in the First Congregational Church of Swanzey, 679 Old Homestead Highway, Swanzey. Burial with committal prayers will follow in the Mountain View Cemetery, Old Homestead Highway, Swanzey.
