Laurette G. Descoteaux 89, a lifelong resident of Keene, NH, passed away on Sunday, May 26, 2024 at the Pheasant Wood Care and Rehabilitation Center in Peterborough, NH, following a period of failing health.
Her parents, Armand and Aldea (Gaillardetz) Jacob welcomed their daughter into the world on July 26, 1934, in Keene, NH. She attended local schools and was a 1952 graduate of Keene High School.
Laurette worked as a receptionist and in banking for the Troy Mills, the Keene Clinic, the former Ashuelot National Bank, and with Keene State College.
A woman of deep faith, Laurette was a lifelong parishioner of St. Bernard Church in Keene and a member of St. Anne Sodality.
She loved watching the baseball games that her husband Joseph was coaching, especially those when he was coaching their two sons, Marty and Tim.
She is survived by her two sons, Joseph "Marty" M. Descoteaux, Jr., Timothy H. Descoteaux; a sister, Theresa Giguere, of Brooksville, FL; a sister-in-law, Marion Traverso of Nashua, NH; a brother-in-law, Richard Descoteaux of Swanzey, NH; and several nieces and nephews and extended family members. Her husband of 58 years, Joseph M. Descoteaux, Sr., died on December 2, 2012. A sister, Jeanette Plumb, two brothers-in-law, George Descoteaux, and Thomas Descoteaux, and a sister-in-law, Pauline Kendall, predeceased her.
A mass of Christian burial will be celebrated on Monday, June 3, 2024 at 10:30am in St. Bernard Church, 185 Main Street, Keene. Burial with committal prayers will follow the mass in St. Joseph Cemetery, Lower Main Street, Keene.
