

MSSGT Lawrence “Larry” Copeland (USAF RET), born September 15 1939 in Hartford Connecticut has stood his final formation, and moved on to his final duty station on Monday, September 28, 2015, peacefully, in his home, following a period of declining health.
He was the eldest of four brothers and one surviving sister who resides in Swanzy NH. Larry grew up in Hinsdale NH, where he attended school and in 1956 always the patriot joined the United States Marine Corps Reserve. Shortly thereafter he transferred over to the United States Air Force where he served proudly for 22 years before his retirement in Colorado in 1978. Larry’s overseas assignments included 3 years in England, 1 year in France, 3 years in Italy, 3 years in Germany and 2 tours in The Republic of Vietnam where he was decorated with the Bronze Star Medal. While Larry was stationed in Germany, he met his beloved wife of 45 years Ursula. Ursula passed away in December of 2009. Together they have 2 daughters (Virginia and Renie) and 6 grandchildren (Tony, Nicky, Michael, Marcus Katyana and Katrina).
Larry didn’t stop there, the family moved back to New Hampshire in 1985, where he worked for Dan Thomas for 7 years, then NGM where he retired after 15 years in 2005. His Service didn’t stop either he continued to serve in the American Legion and The Veterans of Foreign wars (where he was a life member), a Master Masson with the Free Masons, and Disabled American Veterans.
In his later years you could find Larry working around the house, planting flower beds, planting small rock gardens, or doing one of the things he enjoyed the most… helping a friend in need with a helping hand.
There will be a Celebration of Larry’s life at the Foley Funeral Home, 49 Court Street, Keene, NH on Sunday, October 4, 2015, from 3 to 5pm. Burial with full military honors will take place at the New Hampshire Veteran’s Cemetery in Boscawen, NH, on Monday, October 5, 2015 at 1:30pm.
