Lionel G. “Lyle” Peets 90, of Swanzey, NH and a longtime resident of Keene, NH, passed away on Saturday, January 5, 2019 in Swanzey.

His parents, Helen and Wesley Peets, Sr. welcomed their son into the world on December 16, 1928 in Keene, NH.

Lionel proudly served his country in the United States Army and then later with the Army National Guard.

He worked for many years as stockroom supervisor with the former Kingsbury Corporation in Keene. Always wanting to keep busy, following his retirement from Kingsbury Corporation, Lyle worked as a baker at the former Shaw’s Supermarket in Keene.

When not hard at work, Lyle would be found pursuing his life’s passion of hunting and fishing. He also enjoyed woodworking and had a natural talent as an artist, creating paintings on many canvases both manmade as well as in his natural surroundings.

He will be greatly missed by many, especially his children, daughter Karen S. Morse of Turners Falls, Mass., Cathleen M. Haynie of Wildwood, FL, David Peets and his wife, Carrie, of Swanzey; eleven grandchildren, Elizabeth Rowntree, Kari Peets, Jami Brady, Jennifer Plum, Carrie Brady, Courtney Bachelder, Allison Bachelder, Andrew Bachelder, John Moore IV, Michelle Moore, Jason Moore; many great-grandchildren; two sisters, Sandy Paro of Keene, and Arlene Jack and her husband, Keith, of Universal City, Texas; and many nieces, nephews and extended family members. Lionel was predeceased by his wife, Betty Peets; his second wife of 40 years, Patricia Peets; a daughter, Bonnie Bachelder; a grandson, Robert Bachelder; a brother, Wesley Peets, Jr.; and three sisters, Lorraine Russell, Patricia Gemma, and Jacqueline Fish.

A celebration of Lyle’s life will be held on Monday, January 14th from 10:00 to 11:30AM in the Fletcher Funeral Home, 33 Marlboro Street, Keene, followed by a prayer service at the funeral home at 11:30AM.
