Lorraine was born in Keene on March 30, 1934 to the late Wesley and Helen Peets.
In August 1953 she married the love of her life Harry J. Russell Jr. and went on to be married for 61 years. Sadly he passed in February of 2014.
Lorraine worked for 35 years in the Keene School District as a food service worker. She enjoyed her job tremendously and made many friends along the way including the students she provided lunch for.
She was a devoted and loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother. She enjoyed traveling to visit family, camping, snowmobiling, and especially her visits to the beach. She was an avid Red Sox fan and was so excited when they won the World Series this year. She was also a lover of birds and often sat on her porch to take in the sights of the hummingbirds.
In addition to her parents, Mrs. Russell was predeceased by her husband and her sisters Patty, Jackie, and her brother Wesley Jr.
She is survived by her son: Kenneth Russell of Keene; daughter: Cindy Newell and her husband Robert of Swanzey; brother: Lyle Peets of Swanzey; sisters: Sandy Paro of Keene and Arlene Jack and her husband Keith of Universal City, TX; grandchildren: Raven Garon and her husband Nick of Chesterfield, Renae Mitchell of Keene, Kimberly Calkins of Swanzey, Kristin Palumberi and her husband Matt, of South Hadley, MA; and 6 great-grandchildren.
Services will be held Tuesday, November 27th at Fletcher Funeral Home, 33 Marlboro Street, Keene, NH. Calling hours will be held at 10:00 AM and a service will be held at 11:00 AM. Burial will follow at St. Joseph Cemetery in Keene.
