
She was a graduate of Thayer High School class of 1946. She enjoyed gardening, reading, working on community events, but time with family, especially her grandchildren and extended family she cherished the most. She enjoyed the ocean, especially Nubble Light in York, Maine.
She was an active member of the United Church of Winchester having served as a trustee and deacon and as a waitress at the monthly baked bean suppers. During her ten-year term as a member of the Board of Trustees of the E.L.M.M.C.C she served two years as president; later she served on the Board of Incorporators as Vice President.
She was an active member of the Winchester Historical Society and served as treasurer for two years; she was a past president of the Winchester Women’s Club; member of the Town Beach Committee, Winchester Community Park; Bi-Centennial Committee; Economic Development Committee and one of the organizers of the first Winchester Pickle Festival. She served as a ballot clerk; two years as treasurer of the Salvation Army of Winchester and started the Red Hat Society group known as the “Cheshire Chicks”.
She and her late husband owned and operated the pavilion and roller rink at Forest Lake, a popular area for many years until it was purchased by the Town of Winchester.
She is survived by her son Craig Conant and his wife Deanne of Sullivan Island, SC; Jim Conant and his wife Anita of Hampton, NH; Stanley Conant of Winchester, NH; step-son Philip Simonds and his wife Barbara of Winslow, ME; eight grandchildren; Todd Conant, Jacob Conant, Sean Conant, Christopher Conant, Ashley Begani, Hunter Conant, Lillian Conant and Savanah Conant; three step grandchildren; Phil and Ali Simonds and Celina Smith; one great grandson Tristan Conant; a sister-in-law Beverly Conant of Keene, NH. Her husband of forty-five years died in 2000.
A memorial service will be held in the United Church of Winchester, 99 Main Street, Winchester, on Friday morning at 11:00 a.m. Private burial will follow at Evergreen Cemetery. Family and friends are invited to call at the Foley Funeral Home, 49 Court Street, Keene, NH, on Thursday evening from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m.
