

Margaret Lillian Fish, 91, formerly of Surry, NH, died Friday, June 24, 2016 at Westwood Healthcare Center after a long period of suffering with Alzheimer’s disease and health related issues. She was born in Keene, NH on December 19, 1924; the daughter of the late Leon and May Ellen (Aldrich) Bardwell.
Peggy grew up in Swanzey and attended Swanzey schools. She worked at several area businesses throughout her life including Keene Central Screw, MPB/ Timken and People’s Linen. She and her husband enjoyed working with draft horses, performing at horse shows and traveling. Peggy was a people person and her joy spilled over to everyone she met. She enjoyed living in the country and going for walks with her dogs. She was grateful for the wonderful neighbors she had on Joslin Rd that provided assistance to her when her Alzheimer’s disease began. She also enjoyed the new friends she made at the Carpenter Home and Westwood Healthcare Center.
Peggy is predeceased by her husband of 52 year, Leonard Fish in 1999; three sisters, Evelyn P. Gregory, Lillian Labelle, and Marion Tolman; four brothers, Walter Bardwell, Oscar Bardwell, Earl Bardwell and Roland Bardwell.
Survivors include two nephews, Douglas Fish of Keene and his children, Mary Fish of Walpole and Kimberly (Fish) Rumrill of Stoddard and Eugene Gregory of Milford NH; two nieces, Mary (Fish) Demers of Lowell MA, and Jackie (Fish) Moore of Savannah, GA; as well as several other nieces and nephews.
A celebration of Life and reception will be held on Tuesday, July 5, 2016 at 3:00 pm at FLETCHER FUNERAL HOME, 33 Marlboro St., Keene, NH. Burial will be held on Wednesday, July 6, 2016 at 11:00 am at St. Joseph Cemetery in Keene, NH. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in her honor to the Winchester Wildlife Rehabilitation Center, 109 Watson Rd. Winchester NH 03470.
