Marjorie M. McCarthy

She was born in Manhattan, New York, January 01, 1925, the daughter of Joseph M. and Sarah (Moore) Egan.

Mrs. McCarthy resided in Carmel, New York for several years, moving to Keene in 1986. She was a member of the Marie Rivier Association and a parishioner of St. Bernard Church in Keene. She enjoyed her role as homemaker, however, her favorite pastime was her time spent with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She also enjoyed knitting and had a special love of butterflies.

She is survived by her husband of 66 years, David S. McCarthy of Keene; her children, Steven J. McCarthy of Rogue River, Oregon, Maureen E. Wells, and her husband, David of Keene, Ellen P. Fowler and her husband, Jon, of Simsbury, Conn.; eight grandchildren, Timothy Robinson, Robert McCarthy, Michael McCarthy, Jennifer McCarthy, Jonathan McCarthy, William McCarthy, Meghan Wells, Rebecca Wells; seven great-grandchildren; a brother, Charles Egan of Yonkers, NY; and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by a daughter-in-law, Linda McCarthy, three brothers and two sisters.

A memorial mass of Christian burial will be celebrated Monday, September 23, 2013 at 11:00 AM in St. Bernard Church, 185 Main Street, Keene. Burial in the New Hampshire State Veterans Cemetery, Boscawen, will be private.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in Mrs. McCarthy’s memory to the American Cancer Society, New Hampshire Division, 2 Commerce Drive, Bedford, NH 03110.
