

She was born in Hinsdale Nov 27, 1925 the daughter of William and Marion (Jeffords) Powers. She graduated from Hinsdale High School and Northampton Community College.
She then was employed by the State Department in Washington, DC during WWII. She later moved to Keene with her husband and started their family while living at the Veterans Barracks on Marlboro St. Mrs. Eaton then moved to Stoddard where she and her husband opened Eaton's General Store. She was also the Stoddard Postmaster, a position she held for 33 years. Following the closing of the general store she became the proprietor of Eaton Real Estate in Stoddard.
Mrs. Eaton was active in town affairs serving as treasurer for the Town of Stoddard many years. She also served on the Stoddard School Board many years and was a member and treasurer for the Stoddard Congregational Church.
Her survivors include six sons, Charles C. Eaton, Jr (Davette) of Binghamton, NY, Michael R Eaton (Diana) of Chichester, Thomas R Eaton, of Keene, Dean J Eaton (Carol) of Keene, Stacy J Eaton (Tricia) of Bow and Daniel A Eaton of Stoddard. One sister, Sally Russell of Auburn, NH , five grandchildren, Amy Eaton Ramsayer of Chicago, Thomas R Eaton, Jr. of Keene, Kristin Eaton Bell of Van Nuys, CA, Jake C Eaton and Rebecca B Eaton both of Bow, four great grandchildren, several nieces and nephews. She was pre-deceased by her husband of 42 years, Charles C. Eaton, Sr. She was also predeceased by her sister Helen, brothers Bill, John and Robert.
She will be missed by all that knew her for her wonderful sense of humor, quick wit and outstanding chocolate brownies. She will always be remembered for her love of life, her spontaneity, the strength and encouragement she offered to others, and her loving smile.
A special thanks to her caregivers Tami Frazier and Stacey Newell for their loving care and attention; and especially to her daughter-in-law Diana for extending and making her life better.
Calling hours will be held Friday from 5 to 7 p.m. at the Fletcher Funeral Home, 33 Marlboro St. Keene, Services will be conducted Saturday at 11 am at the Stoddard Congregational Church. Her son, Dean J. Eaton, will officiate. Burial will follow in New Cemetery, Stoddard.
