Matthew Scott Johnson

Matt’s parents Donald Johnson, and Christine Rice welcomed their son into the world on June 8th, 1975 in Leimen, Germany. Later relocating to Winchester, NH.

Matt was raised and educated in Winchester, NH, graduating from Thayer High school in 1994. Following his graduation Matt went on to work for several local employers: E.J. Prescott, Turmoil, Carroll Concrete, and most recently as a clerk at the U.S. Postal Service in Brattleboro, VT. A job he and his wife enjoyed together.

On April 6th, 2013 Matt exchanged vows with Christine (Scales) Johnson, enjoying twelve years of marriage together. Matt was an avid motorcyclist, sharing many fond memories on his Harley-Davidson with his wife Christine.

A proud father to his children, Matt enjoyed hunting and spending time with his family and friends. Matt was known to light up a room and his presence will be missed by many.

Matt will be deeply missed by his wife Christine, his son Sawyer and fiancé Caitlyn Sherburne of Keene, NH, his daughter, Tazia Wells and husband Daniel of Stoddard, NH, his stepson, Mitchell Cohen and his partner Michael of Fall River, MA, his stepdaughter Darian Mallet and husband Aaron of New Salem, MA, his grandchildren, Dawson Wells, Parker Wells, Ivy Pearson, and Oliver Mallet, an adopted son, John Knox of Keene, his parents Donald Johnson of Winchester, NH, and Christine Rice of Swanzey, NH, and sister Marissa Swantek and husband Kevin of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.

Family and friends are invited to call on Wednesday, September 24th, 2025 from 12:00-2:00 p.m. at the Foley Funeral Home, 49 Court St. Keene, NH.
