Melinda Susan Day

Mindy was born on June 14, 1957, in Hartford, CT, the daughter of Vesta Shaw Carlow. She was raised in Keene and graduated from Keene High School in 1975.

Mindy’s nursing career, which spanned over 50 years, began as a candy striper, and she went on to earn her Bachelor of Science in nursing. Mindy was an esteemed member of the healthcare team at Cheshire Medical Center. She maintained many advanced nursing certifications and was a BLS/ACLS instructor. Mindy will be missed by her co-workers and the Cheshire community she served.

Mindy always knew she wanted to be a mother. Those dreams came true when she met her husband of forty years, James "Jim" E. Day, Jr. Together they raised their two sons in Keene. Her proudest achievement in life was her family.

Mindy enjoyed crocheting; baking, especially during the holidays; road trips for ice cream and seafood; Hallmark movies; reading; all things cat; and shopping for gifts for loved ones.

Mindy is survived by her husband Jim, sons Brandon (Susan) of Keene, Brett (Amanda) of Keene, step-granddaughter Sierra, cherished grandson Owen, brother Michael Shaw (Mary) of Enfield, CT, and many nieces and nephews.

Very special thanks to her two best friends of many years, Alison Cuomo-Nason and Kim Wolfe, who for many decades, up until the very end, were by her side. They have been instrumental in helping the family through these very hard times.

Services and burial in the Monadnock View Cemetery, Keene, NH, will be held privately by the family.
