

Her parents, Frank and Lura (Kathan) Kay, welcomed their daughter into the world on August 8, 1952, in Bellows Falls VT. Nancie grew up in Walpole, NH and was a 1970 graduate of Fall Mountain Regional High School in Langdon, NH.
Following her graduation, she worked at the Peerless Insurance Company until it became Liberty Mutual in 2013. A resident of Keene following her marriage in 1974 to her soul mate, James Belden, Nancie was a devoted wife, daughter, sister, aunt, friend and dog mom. She loved to cross stitch, read, do puzzles and was a regular blood donor to the American Red Cross, who presented her with a 12-gallon pin. Nancie also loved to walk, easily walking 3 to 4 miles every day.
Nancie spent time at Wells Beach Maine with Jim every summer for over 45 years, she also loved attending antique car shows with Jim later in life. Nancie had beautiful collections of sea glass, frogs, precious moments and had an obsession with fancy shoes.
Nancie will be greatly missed by many people, especially her brother and sisters, Robert Kay and wife Ruth of Derry NH, Rose Scadova of Walpole, NH, Barbara Alexander and husband Ben of Brattleboro, VT; her nieces and nephews, Audra Hughes and her husband Robert of TX, Jessica Alboug and husband Ali of Saudi Arabia, Stefanie Webber and husband Hector of South Carolina, Jason Kay and wife Brenda of Manchester, NH, Jeremy and wife Meagan of FL, Jon Kay of Derry, NH, Joseph Kay and partner Samantha Chen of California, Tracy Truell and husband Chris of Walpole, NH, Sara Mann and husband Wes of Chesterfield, NH, Stormy Gammon and husband Joshua from Springfield, VT, Mandi Slate and husband Ed of Winchester, NH, Debra Silk Thompson and her husband Taylor of Pembroke, MA, sister-in-law Martha Silk and husband Robert of Keene, Martha Kay of TX and many great nieces and great nephews as well as extended family and friends. Special mention of Kitiara Mann, who was like a granddaughter to Nancie. Nancie's husband of 52 years passed away in 2023. A brother, George Kay predeceased Nancie.
Family and friends are invited to attend her wake on Wednesday, May 13, 2026, from 5:00 to 7:00pm at the Fletcher Funeral Home, 33 Marlboro St, Keene. A funeral service will be held on Thursday, May 14th at 11:00am in the Fletcher Funeral Home followed by a committal service in the Monadnock View Cemetery, Park Avenue, Keene.
