Nancy S. Gillum

Nancy S. Gillum 76, of Sarasota, FL and a former longtime New Hampshire area resident, passed away peacefully on September 13, 2023, at her home in Sarasota, from complications due to Alzheimer’s Disease.

Her parents, Robert Frank Reid and Barbara (Hyatt) Reid Lane, welcomed their daughter into the world on May 31, 1947, in Keene, NH. Nancy was a 1965 graduate of Monadnock Regional High School in Swanzey, NH.

She continued her education, attending the University of New Hampshire, where she received a Bachelor of Science Degree in Social Work.

Nancy’s work career centered on caring for many within the healthcare industry, working for 24 years as a Patient and Family Services Coordinator and Case Manager with the Cheshire Medical Center in Keene, NH. Moving to Sarasota in 2001, she worked as a Healthcare Coordinator and Social Worker with The Haven, (formerly Children’s Haven), in Sarasota, where she was blessed to work with mentally disabled and Down Syndrome children.

Nancy loved life with a radiant smile, being active with her family and relished in the joy of being a grandmother, enjoyed various sports and travels. She was introduced to hockey while attending the University of New Hampshire and became a hockey enthusiast. This led her to share her love of the sport with her two sons and was a passionate hockey Mom.

She was an avid tennis player and played both, recreational and competitive tennis with the Meadows Country Club USTA team and Joey Gratton tournament in Sarasota.

Nancy was a member of the United Church of Christ in Keene as well as in Sarasota.

She will be greatly missed by many, especially her life partner and wife of 35 years, Judy A. (Snow) Amadon, of Sarasota; two sons, Michael D. Gillum and his wife, Victoria, of Sarasota, and Thomas S. Gillum and his wife, Meryl, of Greenland, NH; her grandchildren, Spencer Keene Gillum, Jack Thomas Gillum, Alexandra Barbara Gillum, Kaileigh Ruth Stephens; her step-daughters, Tracy Gillum Ranallo and her husband, Jeff, of North Port, FL, and Stacie Amadon; her former husband, David Gillum, of Osprey, FL.

A graveside service in the Monadnock View Cemetery, Keene, will be held privately by the family and her Alpha Chi Sorority Sisters.
