

Nancy was born in Gardner, MA, on March 16, 1947, the eldest daughter of Clayton and Laraine (Chaput) Hebert. Nancy was raised in Troy, NH and attended Troy Elementary School. During Nancy’s childhood, she often looked forward to summer vacations on the coast of Maine. Hermits Island her favorite place to go, you could always find her in the Kelp Shed Game Room, playing ping pong or listening to music.
Nancy was a member of the Monadnock Regional High School graduating class of 1966. After high school, Nancy would relocate to Keene, where she would live the remainder of her life, enjoying the simple things. She didn’t rely on public transportation. Many Keene residents would recognize her and her husband George, from their walks around the city. Nancy and George could often be found, holding hands, walking down Washington Street. During their walk, they would often share a piece of pizza, or a Subway sandwich on their favorite park bench.
Nancy was known for her witty personality. She was always ready with an off-the-cuff joke to bring a smile to your face. It brought her joy to make others smile, and the stranger the joke the better!
Nancy took pleasure in gathering family pictures to add to her own photo albums, often listening to country music as she worked on them. In the Spring, Nancy’s favorite flower was the Lilly of the Valley, which surrounded her cottage. Nancy would always offer to her family and friends to collect a few plants, to replant and enjoy.
Among her many special bonds she made with friends, Hazel Jordan was one of her closest. Hazel was like a daughter to Nancy, and always made time to visit with her, and help Nancy with groceries.
Nancy’s huge smile and sense of humor will be missed by all who knew her. She will be especially missed by her siblings; Christine Hebert Gale and her husband Rocky of Clarksdale, Az; Richard Hebert of Lee, NH; Valerie Hebert Britton and her husband Thomas of Deerfield, NH; Michael Hebert and his wife Diona of Calhoun, TN; and several nieces and nephews. Nancy was predeceased in life by her husband George Holmes, a daughter Sarah and a son Carl Jr.
The family would like to extend their sincere gratitude to her friend from Meals on Wheels, who called for an ambulance for her.

The family has entrusted the Fletcher Funeral Home of Keene, with Nancy’s final care.
