Nancy A. Streeter Wright, 88, of Langdon Place of Keene, NH, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, February 25 due to multiple health complications. She was a beloved and devoted wife, loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and sister.
Nancy was born in Lawrence, MA on Nov. 19, 1936, the daughter of Eleanor (Donham) Streeter and Herbert E. Streeter. She lived in and attended school in Charlestown, NH, graduating from Charlestown High School in 1954, where she was awarded the Daughters of the American Revolution Good Citizen’s Certificate for possessing the qualities of dependability, service, leadership, and patriotism in her home, school, and community. After high school, Nancy attended Northampton Commercial College for secretarial and office management skills. She graduated in 1979 from Franklin Pierce College with an Associate’s Degree of Arts.
Nancy married Frederick C. Wright, Jr. on December 25, 1956. They initially lived in Charlestown and moved to Keene in 1959. They just celebrated 68 wonderful years together.
Nancy was a telephone operator for several years before becoming a wife and mother. In 1966, she was hired by J. A. Wright & Co. (no relation) in Keene where she started as an office worker, advanced to Chief Financial Officer, and finally retired in 1999. After retirement, Nancy and Fred traveled the United States, visiting many national parks and other scenic sights.
Nancy was a welcoming, accepting, and engaging person who had a knack of finding connections between herself and others (validating the concept of 6-degrees of separation). She loved spending time with family & friends, hosting her family at holidays and stepping up as needed in family matters. Nancy enjoyed camping, hiking, bowling, and gardening. She loved to knit, crochet and sew, making many mittens, hats, scarves, afghans, and clothing articles for family and local charities. She enjoyed a good game of cards, solving all kinds of puzzles and reading books. Despite a diagnosis of Multiple Sclerosis in her mid-50s, she continued a very active life until a few years ago and always maintained a wonderfully positive outlook, living life to its fullest.
Nancy is survived by her husband, Frederick C. Wright, Jr. of Keene; her son Michael G. Wright, wife Ann, of Marlborough, NH; daughters Kimberly A. Seidel, husband Michael, of Westfield, NJ and Dierdre A. Bernier-Belletete, spouse Lynn Belletete, of North Swanzey, NH; her sister Sarah A. Waldron of Torrington, CT; three grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; and twelve nieces and nephews.
Nancy was preceded in death by her mother and father, her brothers K. Alan Streeter and Arthur H. Streeter; one granddaughter; and one great-granddaughter.
Family and friends are invited to attend the visitation on Thursday, March 13, 2025, from 6:00 to 8:00 PM at Fletcher Funeral Home, 33 Marlboro St, Keene.
