Nina M. Foster
July 21, 1927 – July 3, 2018
Nina M. Foster 90, of Spofford, NH, passed away suddenly at her home on July 3, 2018.
Her parents, Eunice (Chickering) and Fred F. Moore, proudly welcomed their daughter Nina May into the world on July 21, 1927 in Bradford, Vermont.
Nina moved to West Chesterfield, NH when she was still a baby. When she was school age, her family moved to a house next to the Creamery Bridge in Brattleboro, VT where one of her fondest childhood memories was riding her pony on Western Avenue. In her later years she moved back to West Chesterfield.
As a young lady, Nina was crowned Miss Monadnock and was also runner-up for Miss New Hampshire.
Nina and Harold Foster, Jr. were married in September of 1948. They built their house and raised their family in Spofford where she resided for the remainder of her life.
Early in her work career, Nina worked with the Barrows Coal Company. She later enjoyed driving school buses, transporting many generations of students to the Chesterfield School for 26 years.
Nina was a woman of many hobbies. Some of her favorites included spending time on Spofford Lake, where in younger years she was an excellent water skier. In her later years, she would kayak on Spofford Lake, and did this up until just a couple years before her passing. She was also an avid artist, golfer, loved her crossword puzzles and tending to her flower gardens.
Nina loved her music more than anything. She played the organ; and was a member of the Keene Pops Choir for several years. She loved country music, 40’s and 50’s popular music and gospel. She played her old 45 records and it wasn’t uncommon to walk into her house to hear Elvis blaring full volume.
She loved her home and took great pride in keeping it spotless, and was an excellent cook. She especially loved to bake. She was an excellent seamstress and made a lot of her own clothes. She also loved to knit and embroider, and was a perfectionist in every project she undertook.
Nina loved all animals, especially horses and dogs, and in her later years, her beloved cat.
She was an active member of the Asbury United Methodist Church in Chesterfield, where until most recently, she sang in the church choir.
Nina will be greatly missed by many, especially her four sons, Brian Foster and his wife, Lynn of Westmoreland, Randy Foster and his partner, Harriette Rau, of Keene, NH, Jeffrey Foster and his wife, Lisa, of Spofford, David Foster and his wife, Kristin, of Essex Junction, VT; seven grandchildren, Erika Foster, Sonya Foster, Keeton Foster, Samuel Foster, Kyle Foster, Maxwell Foster, Nadege Foster; a great-granddaughter, Bria Lynn Taylor; a sister, Caroline Hatt of Westmoreland; and a brother, Norman Moore of Keene. She was predeceased by her parents; her husband, Harold; and siblings George Moore and Donald Moore.
A memorial service will be held in the Asbury Methodist Church, 532 Route 63, Chesterfield, on Saturday, July 28th at 1:30PM. Burial will follow in the Friedsam Cemetery, Route 63, Chesterfield.
In lieu of flowers, for those who wish, donations may be made in Mrs. Foster’s memory to the Asbury Methodist Church, PO Box 148, Chesterfield, NH 03443-0148.

To the Family of Nina Foster, our neighbor,
Our sympathies are with you during your loss. May the fond memories ease the pain. Mrs. Foster was a nice neighbor and we enjoyed the chats we had with her. I enjoyed her love of life and her excitement when we shared our crops of beans, berries, and peaches. She was always ready to make her favorite recipe or partake in one of mine. Her smile will be missed.
One of her neighbors,
Joan and Michael Powell
