His parents, Wilfred and Palma (Plourde) Sylvain welcomed their son to the world on July 31, 1946, in Gonic, NH. Norman was raised in Gonic and was a graduate of Holy Rosary High School.
During his younger years he was a drummer with the Drum and Bugle Corps and marched in the inaugural parade held for President Kennedy.
Norman was a 1968 graduate of the University of New Hampshire. He attended the New Jersey School of Medicine and Dentistry, earning his Doctor of Dental Surgery (DDS) in 1972.
In 1972, Dr. Sylvain opened his own dental practice in Exeter, NH. In 1987, he opened his practice in Marlborough, NH, a practice he loved, caring for many patients and families throughout the region for many years, and his patients loved him in return.
During his free time, Norman enjoyed vacationing in the Caribbean and skiing during the winter months. He truly loved his life at the Red Fox Farm in Surry, raising horses and goats, along with his most adored golden retrievers. He was also the head groom for many years at his wife Deborah’s horse shows.
He loved his BMW Z23 sport car and listening to music. He even dabbled at being a DJ for a short while as well. He was known for being "dressed to the 9’s" when he was out and about.
Norman will be missed by many, especially by his longtime wife and best friend, Deborah Sylvain of Surry, and his nephews Greg and Mark Sylvain. A brother, Ronald Sylvain predeceased him.
A celebration of life for Dr. Sylvain will be held on Saturday, November 29, 2025, from 2:00 to 4:00pm at the Surry Town Hall, One Village Road Surry. All are welcome.
