Pearl Ethier Russell

Mrs. Russell was born at home in Westmoreland, to Frank E. and Flora E. (Reindeau) Dragoon February 17, 1932. Growing up on the family farm in Westmoreland, NH she was educated locally attending Keene High School. During high school Mrs. Russell was a member of the Drum and Bugel Corps. On October 13, 1951, Pearl was married to Clifton W. Russell. Living in the greater Keene area, Mr. and Mrs. Russell were married for 58 years until Clifton’s passing in 2009.

Mrs. Russell worked at Princess Shoe and Abbott Furniture, later working for many years in the cafeteria at the National Grange Insurance Company in Keene. Mrs. Russell also was a babysitter for several years while raising her family. Family was paramount to Mrs. Russell, and was known for hosting Christmas and Thanksgiving, or other family events at her home. She was a devoted mother to her daughter, and a devoted grandmother to her two grandchildren. Mrs. Russel was known for her gardening, tending to her flower and vegetable gardens daily, continuing to look after house plants in her later life. Mrs. Russell was also known for her love of cooking and made the “Best pickled beets in the world” according to her sisters.

Mrs. Russell will be deeply missed by her family. She leaves behind two grandchildren, David Weeks Sr. and his wife Pam of Winchester, NH; and Joseph Wakefield and his wife Amy of Swanzey, NH. Her great grandchildren David Weeks Jr. of Bellows Falls, VT; Colby Wakefield, and Chloe Wakefield of Spofford, NH. Her sisters Barbara Bulley and Delphine Feather, both of Plymouth, NH; and three nieces Terri Ride of Florida, Linda Ryan of Florida, and Lori Bellette of Troy, NH. Her daughter Pearl Ann Weeks; her sister Gertrude “Trudy” Wescott and her husband Merle, two brothers-in-law William Bulley, and Stanley Feather predeceased her.

In keeping Mrs. Russell’s final wishes, there will be no formal services. Committal prayers will take place in the springtime at the Woodland Cemetery in Keene. Further service information will be provided in the spring.
