Margaret “Peggy” Hurd, 61 of Swanzey, passed away in the comfort of her home with family by her side on January 20, 2019 following a courageous fight with cancer.

She was born on December 6, 1957 in Keene, NH, the daughter of Arno E. and Elois M. (Taylor) Hurd. She was a 1975 graduate of Monadnock Regional High School. In 1976 she completed a program of study at the Word of Life Bible Institute in Pottersville, NY.

Peggy had spent most of her career in the banking industry. For the last 20 years she had been employed by Savings Bank of Walpole where she was the Assistant Vice President of Deposit Operations.

Peggy was a devout member of Sturtevant Chapel in Keene and had served in various ministries. She loved children and had a passion in particular for the Children’s Ministry. From 1977 to 1983 she work at Bible Memory Association in St. Louis, MO.

Known as “Aunt Peg” to many, even outside her family, Peggy was a loving and caring woman. During times of weakness, her strength shined brightly. She was strong willed and was an extremely hard worker which gained her much respect due to her impeccable work ethic and knowledge. Peggy “loved hard” and always made sure that her family was involved in each other’s lives. All of her actions were done out of love. During her mother’s declining health, she self-sacrificed and cared for her, making sure that her mother received the best care possible.

Peggy will be dearly missed by her siblings: Charles Hurd and his wife Grace of Fort Washington, PA, Glen Hurd and his wife Patti of Swanzey, NH, and Linda Heath of Troy, NH; nieces and nephews: Katy Putnam and her husband Justin, Lisa Magruder and her husband Rico, Alayna McCorkle and her husband Rick, Andrew Heath and his wife Renae, Beth Cox and her husband Andrew, Timothy Hurd and his wife Laura, Jonathan Hurd, Kristina Hurd, Michaela Heath, and Leah Heath; and great nieces and nephews: Abigail Putnam, Megan Putnam, Jayden Magruder, Aurelia Magruder, Sydney Magruder, Logan McCorkle, Adalynn McCorkle, Riley McCorkle, Brayden Heath, Audrey Cox, Lauren Cox, and Ezekiel Hurd.

Peggy was such a blessing to our family. We first visited at Sturtevant when my son was in kindergarten to have him attend AWANA and Peggy was the leader, welcoming, smiling, encouraging, serving . Later I was blessed to serve beside her in ministry and committees and watched as she lovingly cared for Elois. She was Jesus' hands and feet to many. I am praying God's comfort for all her beloved family.

It was evident that Peggy always made sure her family was involved in each other’s lives.
We loved that she had a strong testimony for the lord Jesus Christ. She always made us feel welcome and loved in her home.
We love you Peg and will miss you but we look forward to the day we will see you again.

Miss Peggy was a shining example of Jesus here on earth. Thinking of her makes my heart smile. :) I remember, even from my earliest years at Sturtevant, her servant’s heart and constant smile.
Though I praise the Lord that she is celebrating with Him, I’ll be praying for you, her family, as you grieve the loss of her presence here on earth.
